Pros:Great sound and solid top for this price is exceptional. Great starter guitar.
Cons:Tonal Qualities vary with each AW100, play them all before you decide.
The Bottom Line: I believe that the AW100 is a great guitar for the price. For a beginner or intermediate, it will last you for a long time.
I've played the guitar for about 12 years no so recently I've been in the market, or at least looking and drooling over, a higher end guitar. My recent research has lead me to be quite up to date on several different guitar makers and the individual tones and pros of each. Anyway my friend wanted to get into playing the guitar so he asked me to go guitar shopping with him to help. We went to the local chain store (guitar center) and the salesman recommended the AW100 they had a price of $299.00us on it and that was in his range. The fact that the guitar has a solid engleman spruce top made me take a second look at it so i played a little demo for him. I was amazed that such tone came from a guitar for $300. They had 2 AW100s on the floor so I told my friend that we should try the other just in case there were some subtle differences. Way different! The second one i played sounded like a $300 guitar while the first one i played sounded like a $600 guitar. We took the better one and he gave it a new home. My opinion in a nutshell is: I don't know if the one that he bought is an exceptional piece or if the one that didn't sound as well was just a dud so play them all to hear the difference. But if the majority sounded like the one that he bought then there is no other deal like it that i've seen. And where else are you going to get a solid top guitar for 300?
