tjtoolmanz's Full Review: Ideazon (PW1USE1-B3) Keyboard
I have wanted one of these since I seen them hit the market back in 03 I think.
Finally broke down and picked up one and a few keys sets.
Now there are a lot of mixed reviews out there, with some people loving the board others calling it junk, so i will try to explain my thoughts in relation to those...
Drivers - the drivers I'm using are form the website of the company as of March 2007 - so they are probably much better than others from earlier dates. As with all computer hardware the drivers can really make or break a product. These drivers seem to do what is advertised. They are quite big, which surprised me and I had a few glitches initially after I installed them until I rebooted the computer.
After this all was well, system took a little longer to boot initially, but now seems fine. Swapping keysets now seems to work flawlessly and all is good.
Hardware the keyboard and keysets themselves all seem very study and well made, should last a long time one additional benefit I like is the fact that the keysets come out which makes cleaning them quite easy. (Can anyone say kids at computer with cookies and sandwiches) The only part I found disappointing was the multimedia keys along the top they all work but I thought they would light up considering they are clear, which they dont 0 but not a huge deal.
Layout the only thing that will take a little getting used to is the space bar a better idea may have been something that connected or overlapped somehow, but again not a big deal.
I honestly havent played a lot with altering the commands and buttons, but the software seems like it will do all that and more.
Keysets now for the heart of the zboard, the keysets
I have the two that come with the boards, the Call of Duty 2 and World or Warcraft Burning Crusade. They both work perfectly now ..
The reason why I said now (And I suspect this is a problem with most people is because of me) you see before I had the Zboard I had customized the default binds of the game, and the when I went into the game I was getting some wired results when I hit certain keys. At first I was getting more than a little annoyed, and then it dawned on me so I opened up the Bindings options and said change to defaults or whatever it was, AND THEN EVERYTHING HAS WORKED PERFECTLY SINCE ..
Same thing was true for Call of Duty, AND PRETTY MUCH EVERY GAME OUT THERE or least that I have tried .
You have to keep in mind that the layout of these boards are different so I recommend going through all of your bindings with each game before trying top play them.
Overall I really like the board and the custom keysets really make playing some of the games much nicer. Like anything it takes a bit getting used to, but after you have used the board for a while try going back to a normal key board YOU WONT LIKE IT
I dont know if I will buy more keysets other than the four I have but for other RPGs that come along I may. Incidentally I dont have the burning crusade game yet, but the keyset works just fine with the first World of Warcraft- I have read reviews that say it doesnt.
