Take your medicine like a good boy...

Pros:Drinkable...
Cons:but not worth the effort
The Bottom Line: If you like your spirits light and medicinal this will be right up your street, but it's not my taste.
Inchmurrin comes from Loch Lomond in the Western Highlands of Scotland. Named after the monastic island it perhaps explains the austerity in this whisky. The design of the stills (similar to those at Littlemill) apparently allow the distillery to produce a second whisky (Old Rhosdhu) which I've yet to taste. Inchmurrin does have its fans but it's too austere for me to thoroughly enjoy.
Colour:
Pale amber
Body:
Extremely light
Nose:
Not exactly full, very dry with a hint of something resembling tea-tree oil.
Palate:
Very light and all on the front of the tongue. Medicinal tasting, quite herby and minty.
Finish:
Warming but not long-lasting.
The stills were built by the owners of Littlemill, but whereas Littlemill is very much on the sweet side but with little character this is very much on the dry side with no complexity. It does have a very unique flavour that I'm sure will appeal to some but not me.
I can imagine drinking this from a hip-flask on a cold winters walk or when I've got a cold but it's not a whisky I would want to drink any other time. It's not unpleasant but it's very light and very medicinal - think Drambuie with all the sweetness removed and watered down with raw alcohol.
I can't recommend it but I'm sure it will have its fans because it is so unique. I shared a bottle with a few whisky drinking friends and whilst none of us disliked it none of us felt we would want to buy a second bottle.
