| heavyd1850's Full Review: Infinity Reference 6000cs Car Component System |
I bought these speakers after reading many reviews and listening to many speakers at the local stores. I was somewhat limited to a couple different models due to the low speaker mounting depth of my front doors (2 max). These were installed in a 1999 Honda Prelude with a stock deck for the first couple months then a Pioneer deck up until present.
Pre-Installation
Amazingly, these speakers came with everything you would possibly need to make a solid installation including brackets, screws, mounting hardware, etc. I did not use the I-MOUNT tweeter mounts but they looked very versatile in case you did not have a proper mounting spot for a tweeter.
Sound Quality
I was very impressed with the sound quality after first installing these speakers. Imaging was excellent but a little off because the tweeter was positioned more then 18 from the woofer (make sure you reduce the distance between the woofer and tweeter). Highs were very crisp and sharp. I used the -3dB setting on the crossover to reduce the volume of the highs since the tweeters were about mid-arm level. The woofers were a little weak on bass probably because I was using a stock deck and the door enclosure is not the best enclosure for a woofer.
After I replaced my stock deck with my Pioneer 6600mp deck (MOSFET power), the speakers improved substantially. Bass was more accurate and the highs and lows were more defined. Overall, the speaker sounded much better, so I highly recommend you use external amps or a high quality headunit.
I tested these speakers with both rock music, acoustic rock, and rap music. The rock music was the worst sounding because the mid-range seems a little less defined than the extreme highs/lows of the frequency spectrum. Acoustic music is great due to the excellent high frequency sound reproduction. Rap was excellent because it utilized both the high end and low end extremes of these speakers. If you listen to lots of rock music where the mid-range elements are dominant, you may want to steer away from these speakers or look at getting a high quality equalizer.
