Pros: Clean sound, great imaging, non-agressive highs
Cons: Tricky to fine-tune, the 6¾ woofer will not with in some 6½ speaker location
The Bottom Line: Never forget that better speakers will sound badder than the worst one if used with bad listening material.

| jack_stone's Full Review: Infinity Reference 6000cs Car Component System |
I bought these and install it first in a homemade wooden enclosure. At first listen the sound quality is impressive! Even the bass everyone claim to be lacking sound really great because of the "oversized" woofer surround. After a week of listening, I've take the time to install it in my car. The installation is straight forward since my car has already a speaker adapter in the door for 6¾ woofer. I mount the tweeter in the door at ear level because the stock location is in the dash facing the windshield and this sounded crapy with my last set of component I've installed in here (Pioneer TS-C604). I first try to drive them with an amplifier (35W x 4 RMS) and the sound is not as much impressive. Later I see that my bad-sounding problem seems to be comming from my back speakers who had a 6db/oct LPF and the 6000CS has 12db/oct wich means a bad phase conflict. I Tried to listen the 6000CS alone with the amplifier bridged to 80Wx2, and that's sounded good! Low and high plays very loud and clear but don't forget to set the tweeters crossover at -3db if you install the tweeters at ears level. The speakers sounds great in that setup but it's only 6½ and even the best 6½ cannot play enough bass to fill an entire car.
I don't understand everyone expecting miracle bass from 6½, I try many other speakers in my car and I can tell you that these are not badder than other. I tried bypass the LPF crossover of my rear 6½ to correct the phase problem and now the sound is even better, good bass for only 4 6½ (when time aligned), the highs is also very clean and the sound image is amazing. To use this setup I must use an amplfier to obtain good result but 6½ is not 6x9 or subwoofer, I want deeper bass that a 6½ cannot produce at all so I decided to add a subwofer to my setup, I choose the Infinity 10" in the same serie of the 6000CS. I first listen the sound is horrible, but I quickly understand that a single 10" is not enough for 4 amplified 6½, I think adding a 2nd sub may solve this problem but I don't want to waste more space in my trunk so I tried to wire the 6½ directly to HU power. It's a Pioneer with 50wx4 (22W RMS) and WOW! The sound was so clean et rich! I hear every note, the imaging is precise et the high si not agressive like with many other similar products, the bass is just enought to complete the mids (crossover point @ 80hz) . Conclusion, I think these speakers are great, maybe the best for the price. If you plan to set up a complete system with many amplfiers and subwoofers, maybe you should concider an higher end product (like the Kappa) but if you only want to dramatically enhance a basic system with a good HU, small sub with didicated amp, this will do the job better than you can imagine! Even if you don't have sub (but some audio knowlege), theses speakers will not disapoint you, but keep in mind that setting up component is a not simple step as installing coax, it must be tuned to fit with the rest of the car setting to perform at their max. It worth the time of tuning because the result is amazing. Important note: another reviewer say that great speaker with great HU will produce great sound, but bad sounding material may sound even badder with good speakers and HU, never forget that. If you listen to low-bitrate MP3 badly encoded, don't expect a good pair of speaker to make them sound better, it will be even worst than a stock car audio system. It's often a suprise to discover how bad some MP3 sound when you listen to it in a good audio system.
