| Acarian's Full Review: JBL Power P-1000 Car Subwoofer |
In one of my older cars I own I bought and installed the JBL P1000 model speakers myself. I will go a head and say these are good speakers, but better speakers are out on the market today. When you evaluate all of the circumstances and aspects of this speaker, you could easily find a speaker that is of better quality for around the same price. I am talking in the price range from $150.00. -$200.00. Other speakers easily can surpass these. Although I am not too familiar with the brand of JBL word of mouth from friends and other people had led me into buying this car speaker. They told me it was a solid, reliable car speaker. Yeah, it did sound quite convincing if you ask me. For only $150.00. you cannot beat the price, but as we go over the statistics you will see why other speakers can easily top this one in ordinary performance. This also includes listening experiences as well.
Features
- Pretty good Bass
- Ok sounding treble
- Easy Installation
- Long range sound
- Back speaker output
- Pretty Durable
Bass
From what I have heard so far the Bass sounds on average. I can easily say I have defiantly heard better than this. The Bass does lack in a few areas though; it does not sound as strong as it should be. This opposes problems for the way you can hear your music.
Grade: C
Treble
Some car speakers provide a 3 way balanced treble. Well, these speakers do not, although this makes the listening experience not as beneficial as people would like it to be. As the Bass, the treble sounds a little below average than what people would want to hear.
Grade C-
Installation
I found the installation to be very easy for me which is good. I have been installing car speakers for about 4 years now, so it might take a little more difficulty for someone installing speakers for the first time. You’re mostly on your own on this one because when you buy the speakers they do not come with any instructional booklets or anything of the kind. So I would suggest getting this speakers professionally installed if you are not sure how to.
Grade: B
Long Range Sound
The Long range sound on these speakers is actually relatively good. From what I have heard and experienced so far they do sound about a little above average for a regular car speaker. I would expect more long-range sound though if I wanted to be fully satisfied with a car speaker.
Grade: B-
Back Speaker Output
Ok, this is these speakers weak point. It is very well present in this field. On many listening occasions the back speaker output sounded very disappointing. The strongness overall of the music was not present, and it sounded blared and fuzzy. Two things we never want to come across in a car speaker. So the majority of the time the back speaker output did not exactly sound clear, and got worst most of the time.
Grade: D
Durability
A little below average from testing and experience. These speakers are not made of the best material to be outlasted. Let's just say if you were to drop them on the ground I am not sure they could handle the impact. When I was installing the speakers it felt like they were going to snap in half while I was handling them, and I was not even applying pressure in any way to them. This is a sure sign of week durability. I would not count on these speakers lasting a long time after you purchase them. I did end up trading mine in for a better pair of speakers which where of the Polk brand. One of the factors that determined this decision of defiantly the overall performance and life of the speakers. I just was not that impressed, there is way better out on the market today that is a fact.
Grade: D
Overall Sound Quality
After doing the full evaluation of all the projecting factors I have determined the sound quality of the JBL P1000 car speakers barely hit on average, or are even a little below average. I can easily think of speakers that have of the highest sound quality, compared to this. Considering the price tag you could easily purchase a better car speakers around or possibly even less than the original price tag. This is always something to keep in mind.
Is there comparable Speakers verses this one?
Yes, defiantly there easily is. From what I have experience, the JBL P1000 speakers are about on average, but nothing I would really want anyone to own. The reason for this: We want a speaker that excels in all the area's and is not left out of performance quality in one of the categories. Especially if this applies to more than one of the categories. I could easily recommend that you try some of the selection speakers Polk has to offer. They offer high quality speakers, and still they will not break your wallet when it comes to retail prices. And they also offer a wealthy selection of speakers so you will find something ideal for yourself. There are more reliable speakers than the JBL P1000 model. We want speakers that are above "average."
