| justinbw's Full Review: JVC AV-20420 20 inch TV |
The JVC AV-20420 is an excellent television. I purchased this television for my bedroom to replace a smaller 13" Citizen television I had because it just wasnt large enough to properly play my Xbox on. I had bought a 19 citizen to replace my 13" Citizen, but it produced a loud buzzing sound that was very annoying, so I returned it and bought this 20 JVC. That was a very good decision because this TV to a hundred times better.
SOUND
The quality of the stereo sound is excellent. It does not have that hollow sound that so many cheaper brands have. The sound is crystal clear, even at a high volume the sound is not distorted. You are able to adjust the bass, treble and balance of the speakers. Bass controls the amount of low-frequency sound. Treble adjust the amount of high frequency sound and balance adjusts the amount of sound that comes from each speaker.
PICTURE
The picture quality is amazing. There are so many adjustments you can make like tint, color, picture, bright, detail and noise muting. The tint allows you to adjust the amount of red and green. The color function either makes the picture more subtle or vivid. The picture function allows you to adjust the amount of black and white in the TV picture, either giving you a darker or brighter picture. The bright control also allows adjusting the overall brightness. The detain function adjusts the amount of detail, either making the picture sharper or smoother. Noise muting can be turned on or off to display a blank blue screen if the channel is not broadcasting or is too weak to be displayed correctly at the moment. There is a button on the remote can be is used to easily change the picture settings with a push of the button. You can choose standard, which displays the picture with default settings, Game, which changes setting to display video games better or choice, which will make the picture be displayed with your picture settings. The choice is really nice because you can use standard most of the time and have choice set to be a dark picture, that is nice to use when your are trying to go to sleep.
REMOTE
The remote control is also able to control a JVC VCR if you have one. The remote is black with gray buttons. The control is very nice looking but I find that the button are a little on the small size. You have to look at the remote to prevent you from pushing the wrong button. The remote requires 2 AA batteries, which are included with the TV. The remote has very good range. You can almost point it anywhere in the room and it will control the TV.
V-CHIP
This JVC television comes with a built in V-Chip. The V-Chip is a device that allows adults to choose what ratings of shows they will allow their children to watch. This setting can be modified with a password, but dont worry there is another way that is described in the manual. There is also button on the remote, and if pushed it will display the rating of the show you are currently watching
OTHER FEATURES
Clock auto set will automatically set the clock time and it will adjust the time when day light savings time changes. Three languages to choose from, English French and Spanish. Sleep timer will automatically shut off the TV after the preset time has expired. On/Off timer can be set to automatically set to turn the TV off and on. For example, you can set it to turn on at 7:00am on channel 20 and have it turn off at 7:30am. This is great for waking up in the morning or not missing an important show you wanted to watch. Closed caption will display the text on screen for people that cant hear very well. Front and rear input A/V jacks, allow you to have up to 2 input devices hooked up. Rear output A/V jack is great for hooking the sound up to a home stereo for surround sound.
I highly recommend this television to anyone that is looking for a new 20 television. Cheaper off-brand televisions can be found but their features, sound quality, and video quality dont come close to being as good as this TV. It also comes with a 1 year warranty. Setting up the television is so very easy, that the manual will probably not be required. Great television for anywhere in you home.
