I love my big screen TV

Cons: heavy (thats expected)
The Bottom Line: The JVC AV-36D501 is a wonderful 36 inch TV. The sound, picture and features are great.

It has been around one year since we purchased our JVC AV-36D501 36 inch television set from Circuit City. We have and do continue to enjoy the television very much.
At first we were looking into buying a big screen TV like a 50+ inch, but they were all projection and you have to sit head on to watch a projection TV to avoid any glare. Also another disadvantage to buying a bigger screen TV is that being military and moving so much we do not have a guarantee on the way a living room can be set up, so it could of been a big disadvantage to us all around. We settled on the JVC AV-36D501 . My husband and I are both happy with our decision.
Why did we chose the JVC AV-36D501 ? Well, for many reasons. The following is a list of the features that helped us with our final decision.
1)Screen Size: The screen size is 36 inches and measures 90 cm diagonally full square.
2)Picture Quality: The picture quality is wonderful. There are no flaws, the picture is clear.
3)Sound Quality: Sound is clear as can be. There are no scratches in the sound.
4)Speakers: The speakers are attached to the television set. It is a very nice looking television.
5)V-Chip: Having three kids, nowadays you have to be careful what children are watching on television. V-Chips enable TV parental guidelines and movie guideline controls. If one of my children attempt to watch a blocked channel, they will see a message reading " This programming exceeds your rating limits. Please enter lock code by 10 key pad to unlock it." I find this to be great.
6)Video Inputs: These inputs can be found in the back of the television was well as in front of the set. We like this option because of all the additional electronics we have connected to our TV. For example, when playing our Sony Playstation 2 we use the front inputs, and all the other components are connected to the back inputs.
The following is a list of button functions that we found and continue to find to our likings:
1)Menu: The menu allows you to access the onscreen menu system.
2)Display: The display screen shows the current status of timers and inputs such as display, time, and channel.
3)Video Status: This is one of my favorites. You have the option of standard factory settings, choice, and theater. The theater status is wonderful when watching movies, it actually has great film quality.
4)Sleep Timer: You can set your timer in 15 minute intervals up to 3 hours.
5)Input: You chose your input such as Video 1,2, or 3, antenna or cable.
6)BBE: This is one I am still not used to, but what it does is add a clear natural sound to the television. We do not use this that often. My husband is a bigger guru when it comes to this function.
7)Hypersound: This is another feature that I do like. This feature makes your television sound more like it has a three dimensional sound effect.
8)Muting: This feature is obvious, mute to not hear sound.
9)Return: Return to your previous channel.
10)100+ Button: If you can access channels over 99, this button is easy to use. Just push it and it allows you to move above 100.
This television does come with a remote that you can use to access you VCR and stereo as well. The best feature on the remote, in my opinion, is the light function. If you are watching TV and need to see the remote more clearly you hit the light button and the remote numbers light up in red. This is more of a toy function to me, but I like it.
This television also comes with a 2 Tuner Picture in Picture(PIP). On the remote, you access your PIP. You can swap it, move it, and freeze it. I enjoy this feature during football season. There is nothing like watching two teams at once.
All in all, I am very happy with my JVC AV-36D501 . It is a wonderful television set with many great features. We purchased ours at Circuit City for $1099.
