Pros: Good sound quality, simple to use
Cons: Falls apart easily, remote isn't that great
The Bottom Line: If you are going to have it lying on your desk, then it's great. If you plan on travelling with it, look elsewhere.

| treewood's Full Review: JVC XM-R70SL Personal MiniDisc Player |
I bought this little guy just about a year ago, and it's served me well all this time. Well, maybe not that well.
I am a "demanding" user. It's in my pocket when I go to school in the morning, and it's in my backpack during school (and we all know what backpacks go through when they lie on the floor). Only after a month or two, it started showing its dislike of this abuse.
Screws started falling out for some unknown reason. You'd think that screws would stick in place, holding the thing together, but ... well that's not the case here. Most of the screws eventually fell out, which seriously harmed the ability to change the discs. It is also difficult to keep the thing closed, and it tends to open up at a hard shake or bump.
The screw problem doesn't only happen with JVC players; my friend has a Sony player, and the screws fall out of it as well.
Now, for the good. The sound quality is pretty good. If you use the digital cable(which comes with it) to record, you will get very good quality (CD- or near-CD). If you use an analog cable (needs to be bought separately), you will likely end up with noise and you will also need to adjust the volume on the source, which is a minor nuisance.
The battery also lasts pretty long, so you should be able to listen the whole day, and then recharge it overnight (which is VERY convenient, as you just plug the adapter cable into the player).
Also, if you're going to buy this one, you might as well buy new headphones as well. The ones that are provided are AWFUL.
Overall, it's a good choice, but I recommend reading reviews of other players, especially from Sharp and Sony.
