Pros: Super thin unit (less than 2"), sleek design, incredible video/sound quality for a modest price.
Cons: This unit will not properly display the video IF you connect through a VCR.
The Bottom Line: I'd definitely recommend this DVD player to anyone, especially if you're new to DVDs and want a player that's of great quality without first having to qualify for a loan.

| spider-man's Full Review: JVC XV-N50 DVD Player |
After doing some research on the "top names" in the DVD player market, I found that great quality could be found with the "upper-middle class" of the market. I had my choices narrowed down to: Sony, Pioneer, Toshiba, Panasonic, and JVC. After reading reviews and technical specs on some players of each of the above mentioned names, I decided to choose this JVC over the other models that were comparable to it. This particular JVC model had everything I was looking for feature & quality wise and the price was too good to pass up. This is one of the few DVD players that are out there that are available in black instead of silver. I brought it home from Best Buy, threw in a movie and was impressed with the great video and sound quality. Ultra sleek design, user friendly on-screen menus, a straight forward remote control, and no skipping, jumping, or freezing whatsoever. All in all I give this DVD player two thumbs up for its great quality and its great price.
*** SPECIAL NOTE ***
~ This unit will not properly display the video IF you connect it through a VCR. You've got to connect it directly to the TV so you've got to unplug/replug your VCR and video game console RCA cables, every time you want to use them.
