This DVD player plays well. Over 4 years I noticed some glitches happen (scene gets stuck, things like that) but it's a decent DVD player. The size is average. A little on the large size but very thin. It'll take up the top of your tv but won't take much vertical space up there. Also, it has a nice remote that is easy to use with easy to locate buttons. They even glow in the dark (nice!). Often the arrow keys can be small but these are placed logically at the right size too.
However, I have an Orion brand TV and when trying to set up my DVD player the manual did not have a code for my TV. So I have not been able to set it up properly to be able to go back and forth from TV to DVD easily. I have to plug the DVD player into the back of my TV every time I want to use it and when I want to watch TV I have to unplug the DVD player from the back of the TV. It's quite a nuisance. It has codes for all other major TV brands like Sony, RCA, Magnavox, etc. (It has at least 20 codes or so) but if you have an Orion TV you should probably buy a different DVD player.
