| roynyr's Full Review: Audiovox SC-340A Remote Control |
The Jensen SC 340 remote control is the perfect solution for anybody looking to purchase an inexpensive yet effective remote control. Around two months ago I was looking to replace my old RCA remote which was on the fritz. Its' buttons were no longer responding to my channel changes and it was not because of the battery ( sometimes I would hit the 7 and it would go to channel 1 and if I hit the 4 it would go mute - this was frustrating to say the least).
Why Jensen?
One day when I renting a movie at Blockbuster and waiting on line to check it out, I saw the remote control on the peripheral shelf. So I picked it up and made the purchase. And I am happy that I did. The price of the remote control was only $10.99 which was surprisingly cheap. To be honest, I had never heard of the name brand of Jensen either but I was not very particular with the type of remote control that I wanted. As long as it functioned properly, I would be a happy camper. Fortunately, this one did not disappoint me at all.
It Is Good!
There are many reasons why the Jensen SC 340 remote control is very good. First off and most important, it gives me one touch control of multiple electronic accessories. I can control my television, cable box, and VCR all with one remote. I could also program a DVD player if I wished but I do not have one however this model allows that functionality. And the programming was a snap too. A two page guide walks you through setting up each piece of equipment. It took an electronic dunce like me only ten minutes to program so it should take you about five minutes. It was really simple.
VCR capabalites include stop, play, fast forward, and rewind - pretty much the basics. For more advanced functions, I have to go to my old VCR remote. But for most users, the preceding functions are sufficient. There is also for cable and television use, a surf button and a television menu button among the various basic buttons that you see on all remotes. Now mind you, there are not a lot of bells and whistles on this particular remote control, just the basics.
Features
The remote control utilizes two AAA batteries and I have had not had to replace them yet in about three months. It is black with off-white buttons. It is very light weight too, I would say that it weighs around a couple of ounces. It is also easy on your grip and not cumbersome to the user. The only very minor complaint I would have is the eye on the front does not have a great amount of degrees of use. By that I mean its' circumference of effectiveness is limited to about thirty degrees. But other than that, it is outstanding and a really good quality buy for the electronics consumer.
