| mrsaturn's Full Review: KLH DA1702 5-Disc CD Changer |
My title is more than adequate. This review's gonna be short.
It distorts. A freaking CD player that DISTORTS. How is this possible? For $70, you'd think they could throw in a laser and D/A assembly that doesn't ruin music, but they did. Play anything with powerful high end and it's going to come out crappy. When this happened at first, I thought it might be the reciever. Running a line from my computer and playing the same CD - that's a whole lot more electronics to go through and about 15 feet more cable - the music was flawless.
The rest of the range is alright, though, especially the mids. Bass is sort of lacking, too - I'd say this thing goes from 40Hz-15Hz. Really bad.
Even if you're no audiophile (although you wouldn't need to be to notice this distortion) the changing mechanism will kill you. You can't rotate the tray with the tray open! What the hell? It's completely counterintuitive.
