Pros: Cheap, sounds great loud
Cons: Hissing sound, not very great speakers
The Bottom Line: This product is decent for the price. If you don't mind the slight hissing sound it makes when it gets quiet.

| iceman2004's Full Review: KLH R5100 5.1 Channels Receiver |
I bought this receiver in a package with 5 speakers and a sub for $150. It was a floor model, so I was taking a risk I guess, but the guy threw in a free 3 year warranty. The price was amazing. The sound quality wasn't so amazing. At first when I plugged it in, I used regular RCA cables to connect to my DVD player. Then I upgraded to Optical audio. This caused problems right off the bat, because I couldn't figure out how to get the thing into digital mode. It came without a remote or manual, so that's why it was difficult. When I finally figured it out, I noticed a hissing sound coming out of the speakers. I was very upset and immediately took it back. I got a three year warranty with it, so this was no problem. They gave me a brand new one. I took this one home, set it all up, and the stupid static sound was still there. Now I was mad. I wondered if I just had all the bad luck or if this was just a crappy model. I searched online and found out everybody with this model had the same problem. What I want to know is how can a company put out a 5.1 digital receiver that makes a crappy hissing sound when you use the 5.1? This doesn't make any sense to me. The hissing sound is mostly noticeable when it gets quiet, so I learned to live with it. I upgraded my front 3 speakers, so it sounds great now.
