Pros: Great for budget-limited shoppers or for a cheap bedroom system.
Cons: Can't find a universal remote that works with KLH.

| dttreese's Full Review: KLH R5100 5.1 Channels Receiver |
I won't spend too long repeating the excellent descriptions of this receiver that have already been written. I purchased this unit about 2 years ago for $100 on sale, and I couldn't be happier. It's not a THX certified 7.1 system, but it doesn't have that kind of tag, either. I also noticed a nasty whine with the digital sound, but I have a potential solution. I'm a medical student, so when I bought the system I was trying to save some money. I bought cheap cables. BIG mistake. Recently, I found some high-end cables at a reasonable price (i.e. less than $10 each). Using these cables eliminated the whine from my surround sound. If there is any interference left, it's quieter than the hum from my television. I use the coax for my DVD and the optical for my video game system. You will spend several hundred more for anything better than this system. When I do upgrade, this system will go into my master bedroom. It's a keeper, not a junker
