The Bottom Line: I would recommend to anyone looking for a quality vacuum at a decent price.

| ddkg's Full Review: Kenmore 23612 Progressive PowerMate Bagged Caniste... |
I am on my second Kenmore Progressive and I can't say enough good things about them. I use my vacuum everyday in a house that almost always has some kind of construction going on. I use it almost as a shop vac. I've sucked up sawdust, nails, screws, staples, chunks of wood, sugar, flour, you name it, I've probably vacuumed it up with my Kenmore. I had my first one for about 5 years until I lent it to a family member who used it to vacuum up who knows what but I couldn't get the smell out of the cleaner. It still worked great but couldn't stand the smell so, I gifted it to the person who ruined it (haha).
In the five years I owned it the only thing I had to replace (other than bags and filters) was the hose which cracked and split. I ordered the part and did the repair myself (was quick and easy)
The Kenmore I have now is 8 years old and I will need to replace the hose on it. The power head for the carpet is broken (one wheel is off and the handle won't stay up) because my children will stand on it and hold on to the wand. They will stand on the hose too if I leave the vacuum out.
I have no complaints about suction and I love the powermate, Jr. My chocolate lab loves to be vacuumed with it. My only complaint would be that the power cord auto-wind is a little weak.
I really abuse my vacuums and this one really holds up good.
FYI - My parents owned a Kirby vacuum and switched to Kenmore because they liked my cleaner so much.
