All I can say is beautiful. This reciever is the best I have ever seen and heard. It reaches the realms of Alpine's elite, and then does more. At first glance it has a blank face. When you turn it down it quietly flips the faceplate around and revels the beautifly enginered KDC-X969. The blank faceplate is detachable to ward off thiefs. It would take me hours to explain all the options. The built in crossover gives you an array of options that any analog crossover does. The 3 band equalizer (Bass, Mid, treble) is fairly simple to use but with all the extra options like system Q and frequency responce makes it top of the line. I was going to buy an 11 band equalizer but soon found out that this built in one works better then most external equalizers.
The oversized display plays a big part in navigating around and can sometimes be a daunting task but a few days of fiddling and everything will become clearer. There is many different things that can be displayed on the display everything from short video clips to slide shows to abstract type screen savers. It also allows you to display a variety of spectrom analizers.
In the areas of sound the KDC-X969 exceded all expectations. The bass was clearly there while mids and highs were as responsive as ever. The amp didnt push enough watts for my 2 infinity kappa 693.5i speakers so I purchased a Kenwood Excelon KAC-X520 1000 Watt amp. The neat thing about these two Excelon products is they work in tandum which gives you the option of up to 18 db gains. I'm not saying the amp sucks because it is far from sucking. 6x9s with lower wattage ratings sound excelent on this reciever. The amp is a 4 channel (50x4). 22x4 rms. My 6x9's can handle 110 watts rms so you can see why it has some trouble pushing the voice coils.
But anyway I highly recomend this reciever to anyone that is willing to dish out the money. I recommend researching this or any idem you are going to buy before you actually buy. A+ in my book.
