| usadan's Full Review: Gyration Ultra Cordless Optical Suite (GP170-001) ... |
I bought this suite due to the keyboard. It had a nice feel, very quite keys, a small size, and had some nice functions on top. The gyroscopic mouse came with the suite.
Unfortunately, the functions on top of the keyboard did not work with my Windows98SE other than volume and mute. The product says that it works with W98 and requires no drivers. It only works in a limited way. There's no configuration utility provided or downloadable (at least not that I could find). I would hope these would work better in XP but who knows. They are not reconfigurable anyway according to the website.
The keyboard is almost like a notebook keyboard but I found it actually less intuitive in its layout than DELL and Toshiba notebook keyboards. The CTRL key was the 2nd one in from the lower left corner for instance. I supposed one could get used to it over time.
The gyroscopic mouse was fun to play with for a few minutes but basically not a good way to move a cursor. I'd much rather have a wireless trackball on my knee any day. Perhaps some people doing presentations could make use of it but overall I didn't find it appealing at all.
