kittelstick's Full Review: Kicker Solo-Baric L5 S12L5 (2005) Car Subwoofer
Kicker, in general, tends to make pretty good audio products, and the S12L5 (12" Kicker L5) is no different. With a power handling of 600 watts rms this woofer can take a beating. Likewise, it is easy to obtain a box for this woofer since it is extremely popular.
Sound Quality (SQ): The sound quality on the S12L5 is pretty good. It is far from a competition SQ woofer, but overall isn't bad either. (7/10 overall)
Sound Pressure Level (SPL): This is where this woofer shines. Not only does it have high power handling, but it gets loud. The fact that this woofer is square tends to play a role in the loudness the woofer is able to produce. With more cone area than a standard 12" woofer, it is no wonder the L5 puts most other woofers to shame in the SPL department. (8.5/10 overall)
Cosmetics/Visual Appeal: Although it shouldn't necessarily matter what a subwoofer looks like, many people are concerned with the overall looks of their equipment. The Kicker L5 has undergone cosmetic changes over the years of it's existence, starting it's life as black, then progressing to a reflective silver. Both woofers look good, it looks particularly well if you invert the subwoofer and show off the massive magnet that this woofer has. (7.5/10 overall)
