The Bottom Line: If you are in the market for a food processor, check out the KitchenAid models. Cuisinart no longer has the monopoly on great quality processors or their prices.

I have always owned the Cuisinart brand food processors because I thought they were the original and therefore had to be the best. When my last Cuisinart, which was a 7-cup model, became too small for me I decided to invest in a larger capacity processor and found the KitchenAid 12-cup model KFP750.
After using it for only a few weeks now, I can honestly state that this machine far exceeds the Cuisinart in many respects. The KitchenAid is much heavier and more solidly built. It runs quieter and is much more stable on the counter due to the large suction type feet on the base. This model is unique in that it comes with 2 bowls; an inner smaller bowl and the outer larger bowl. Each bowl has its own blade and this configuration gives you the option to process large or small quantities, using your choice of mixing bowl.
The performance of the machine seems to be much more efficient than my old Cuisinart. It does the job quicker and more evenly, no matter what you are processsing. Part of that might be that the blades are sharper because they are new, compared to my old Cuisinart, but I won't know that for sure until the KitchenAid has aged like my Cuisinart. I also will not know how well the plastic bowls hold up over time. The ones on my Cuisinart became scratched and dull looking after a short time. Hopefully the KitchenAid bowls will hold up longer. They do seem to be made better.
The model that I purchased came with a generous number of attachments and accessories, including 2 mixing bowls, 2 cutting blades, a dough blade, a 2-piece food pusher, a fine (2mm) slicing disc, a medium (4mm) slicing disc, a medium (4mm) shredding disc, and a neat little storage case. I also ordered a fine (2mm) shredding disc because I think it works better on certain recipes such as carrot cakes, etc. All of the discs that I have used so far work great and certainly at least as good or better than the Cuisinart.
Cleaning is pretty much as easy (or difficult) as it was with my Cuisinart. All of the attachments can go in the dishwasher, but I usually clean them by hand to extend their life. Dishwashers can be brutal on plastic items. The stainless steel blades can certainly be washed in the dishwasher with no damage.
One of the drawbacks of this machine is that it stands quite a bit taller than the Cuisinarts, which makes storage a bit more difficult. I found that the best way to store it is to remove the work bowl cover and invert it into the work bowl with the pusher lying sideways in the bowl. This method will reduce the storage height by about 5 inches. Another small complaint I have is that the storage case, though very compact and neat, has a plastic lid that is difficult to remove and replace. it just sort of snaps on and it has no lip or tab to use. It should have been made with a hinged cover for easier access. It also only holds 3 discs, so if you have more than that you have to find another place to store them.
One of the great features of the KitchenAid processor is the 1-year hassle-free replacement warranty. If you have any problem with the unit within 1 year, you simply call KitchenAid and they will send a new one, postage free, and allow you to return the old one at no cost. No questions asked.
I bought my unit on Amazon.com for $174.99 and also received a coupon to send for 3 cutting boards of various sizes. You might be able to find it cheaper if you shop around. Amazon recently had the KFP760 wide mouth model in black onyx for $139. If you're ready to buy and can live with black, I would check it out.
The bottom line is that I am very happy with the KitchenAid food processor and feel that it a superior product to the Cuisinart and available at deeper discounted prices. The Cuisinart also does not offer the great no hassle warranty that KitchenAid does.
