| morfeuse's Full Review: Klipsch PROMEDIA 4.1 Speaker System |
First, I had a set of 20 watt Boston Acoustic speakers. Then, I moved up to a set of 60 watt speakers. Both sets of these speakers were great except for one thing YOU CAN'T CRANK THE VOLUME ON THEM!! But all of this was about to change. For Christmas I got a set of the Klipsch ProMedia 4.1. 400 watts of high performance sound. With the other set of speakers you could get good sound with ok bass but once you got up towards 1/2 volume sound quality would detriotrate quickly. Everything getts crackly. Not the case with the Klipsch. Right after I got them I though I'd push them to their limits just to see what I had to work with. Amazingly enough I hit my limit before the Klipsch hit there's. I made it to 1/2 volume and pictures were falling off the walls around me but not one hint of destortion showed up. These speakers proved themselves worthy. Also, this is one of the first set of computer speakers to actually be able to put many home theatre systems to shame. Now unfortunately there are some down sides to these speakers. Lack of an on off switch is one of them. There is an dissengage button but it doesn't completely turn the system off which may become a problem with you actually want to get the amp a break. Second, the wiring for these speakers is of very very poor quality luckily klipsch has started to sell monster cable for these speakers for alitle extra cash. Third, not only are these some of the best speakers they're also some of the most expensive speakers but in my book completely worth every penny. Finally, unfortunately with my set I get this annoying static in one speaker only. Unplugging the speaker fixes the problem but I can't help but feel thats wasted power and that shouldn't have to be done anyways. Luckily I got the protection plan for these speakers which I would recommend becuase if your pushing these things hard you don't want to end up with a $300 paper weight. All together I love these speakers. They are an audiophiles best dream come true and I would recommend these speakers to anyone if you really want a good set check out the 5.1 too!
