| klonny's Full Review: Klipsch RSX-5 Main / Stereo Speaker |
I wanted nice wall mountable speakers for a new home surround system. I was going to go with the Bose satellite system, then switched to RM-20's from Polk, then thought about the Athena 6 or the Klipsch Micra... but after listening to them I fell in love with the Rsx-5's.
First, my old system was Bose 201's, Yamaha sub, & two free/cheap rear surrounds. They were nice, I liked the Bose and all but my god it is day and night difference between the Bose and the RSX-5's. I haven't finished setting up the system and am only using the two fronts, but the depth of sound from the Klipsch's is truly amazing. From such a small speaker it seems to broadcast the entire spectrum. now I don't really know what folks are talking about when they say something lacks "midrange" but I know that watching a movie you really get the full sound, from the bass to the highs, it feels much fuller than the 201's. To be fair the speaker list for more than the Bose's do, so maybe it's like comparing apples to oranges.
The feel is very solid, the speaker grilles are held on magnetically, which is a nice touch, the mounting bases are solid metal and feel very solid. A bit of a pain to adjust, you need to tighten or loosen 4 bolts, but the wrench is included. also included is a level, very nice touch.
Overall, very nice, happy I got them for $325, but would have paid the MSRP of $199 each.
