kyperman's Full Review: Kodak EasyShare CX7300 Digital Camera
I recently bought this little gem for my wife as a Mothers Day gift. She had stated that she wanted a new camera but it had to be easy to use.
Up until know we have not really gotten serious about the digital photography craze. We have hung on to the old standard 35mm SLR camera. While I still believe that there is and always will be a place for standard film. I have to admit, I know that digital is where it's at right now.
I looked at standard 35mm compact cameras to buy my wife, but I just could not justify the cost for another film camera. I have owned a cheap Vivitar digital camera for ebay pictures, but I disliked it a lot, the quality of the pictures was not good and it was hard to use.
I went to Circuit City and looked around and this Kodak caught my attention, it was cheap and it felt good, it felt solid. I really had not done much research, but I thought I would take a chance, I could always take it back.
Well, to make a long story short, we are gonna keep it. My wife likes it a lot and it is easy for her to use.
The camera is small, it has most any feature you would want. It has mulitiple flash settings, it has a timer. You can take photos in color, b/w and sephia. It takes standard AA batteries also. I would recommend buying some rechargables however cause the camera does go through them like candy.
More than anything however, the camera takes rich and deep pictures, I have nothing bad to say about the picture quality, it is amazing for a 3.2 megapixal camera. The flash itself is a little weak, if you are taking a photo from more than 20 feet away, your subject might be dark, but this is the case with many small cameras.
You should also invest in a memory card as well, it takes the super small SD for Secure Digital cards. I only have a 35 MB card but I can hold about 50 pictures in the middle quality setting, about 35 in the high quality setting. With a larger card like 256 MB you could hold hundreds of photos.
The software that comes with the camera is good as well. You can e-mail, edit, whatever very easily. I have a card reader hooked up to my computer, so I just take the memory card from the camera and slip it into the reader and in seconds, my photos are there for me to view.
Kodak does have an optional camera dock that will do this as well. It would be a nice thing to have, but the benefit seems to be outweighed by the cost.
I was a little sceptical of Kodak of digital cameras at first, I was tempted to go with higher end camera like a Minolta or a Nikon, but I have been re-educated, Kodak not only makes good film, but good cameras as well. You will not be sorry with this camera.
