Pros: Look and feel is good for we Boomers. Easy transfer of pics to the PC.
Cons: Costly and short life batteries; only 32 MB internal memory. Kodak EZ-Share software is so-so.
The Bottom Line: A good all-around value for a first foray into digital picture-taking. Get recharger and batteries!

Update: Still happy with this camera. I have no need to go out and buy a later model with more features. Flawless, easy operation. The Kodak EZ-Share software provided is adequate, but not easy to navigate around so that photo files are simply transferred and stored on your designated "C" drive folder on the PC. They want to keep you hooked in to their products. I understand.
BATTERY RECHARGER FOR dual AA Ni-MH IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST!!
I'm not a savvy consumer electronics kinda guy, nor am I an especially good photographer. I am absolutely frugal, and will look for value in any purchase I make. I'd waited long enough. It was time to get a digital camera. I checked epinions, and shopped. I wanted my camera to look like a camera. I bought the Kodak DX4530 in February 2004 at a big name retailer for $299. Of course, I knew it would be offered for a hundred bucks less within a year's time. I would not spring for the accessories package nor docking station. I've done better by waiting for compatible accessories and related products to become available if and when I decided I'd need them. I've shopped and done very well to add a nice case, a small tripod, rechargeable batteries and charger, two Secure Digital additional memory, and my choice of photo printing paper.
This point and shoot camera is great for a beginner like me. I've easily taken and shared some very good quality family holiday and sports event pics; I've inventoried and saved pics of my assets, done some portraits, even self portraits; I've captured great landscapes and close-ups of flora and fauna from my travels to Central America, etc., etc. What really amazes me is that now that I've bought a 1GB SD, I can take 700-some individual pics, and/or up to one hour of video. Just hold the camera STEADY and practice panning, etc., for better short vids.
No problem with the plastic lens cap, but new models now incorporate an automatic one.
