Pros: Good zoom range, large screen.
Cons: SLOW, low image quality, annoying to use.
The Bottom Line: Buy something cheaper and smaller if all you want is a "friendly" point-and-shoot digicam with limited features, which is what this is.

| carbon_hydro's Full Review: Kodak EasyShare DX7590 Digital Camera |
The technical specifications may seem impressive to the uninitiated, but the performance is lacking.
Good points: Somewhat compact for its zoom range, decent build quality, large display.
Bad points: Critical settings and features are either missing or handicapped to the point of being useless. For example, the white balance sucks. The electronic viewfinder sucks. The low light performance sucks. Slow focus, slow image writing, slow shutter response, slow access to important settings. Image quality is compromised by too much compression and general softness.
Under bright daylight you can get OK pictures as long as whatever you're aiming at isn't moving. Other than that, this thing is SLOW, annoying to use and laden with Kodak's attempts at "user-friendliness" which are just attempts to pander to idiots. This camera was clearly designed with non-photographers in mind.
Despite its long zoom, the lack of speed and response make this camera useless for sports and action. If all you want is a camera for occasional snapshots of people standing still and hideous indoor flash pictures, I guess this will work. But you can get the same or better quality images from any number of smaller, less expensive cameras. Don't worry that they'll have less snob appeal - anyone that actually cares about what kind of camera isn't going to be impressed by your Kodak. Even their "pro" ones like the 14n are terrible.
