Pros: Great camera, with a lot of issues
Cons: Buy it only if you 're fully aware of the warranty issues.
The Bottom Line: Don't buy this unless you understand the ramifications of the Sony buyout and the warranty issues.

| handymanjd's Full Review: Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D / Dynax 7D Digital Camera |
Got my 7d in March, and love it, but, and this is a biggie, if you buy one, be aware that Sony just bought out Minolta's camera assets, and support on this camera is just about non-existant.
Right now, if one breaks and needs parts, Sony is offering a 7 year prorated buyback, which, as I get it, is for the original purchaser with a receipt.
Hopefully Sony will figure this out, they're losing a lot of loyal Minolta customers by ignoring those who have 7d's.
The most prevalent problems are:
Sometimes it has to be calibrated to the flash to get properly exposed pictures. The camera company Sony now uses can do this.
Sometimes it has a "back focus" issue. The camera focuses an inch or two off from what the viewfinder shows. Take a picture of someone, putting the focus mark directly on them, and look at it. If they're slightly fuzzy, but something sitting on a table in front of or on the wall behind them is sharp, the back focus is off. Again, this is a calibration issue that can be fixed.
Sometimes they just "die" This is what mine is doing. You trip the shutter, the mirror comes up, and it quits. The only way to bring it back to life is to remove and reinsert the battery. Mine does this 3-5 times a week.
The rubber thumb pad will come off right after you start using this, and the camera company will not fix it, they're not addressing "cosmetic" issues. So, re-glue it and don't lose it!
If you have any doubts about these issues, just do a search for "minolta buyback" and see what you find.
