Kurzweil SP88
Written: Nov 16, 2000
Rated a Somewhat Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Great sounds, Great feel!
Cons:Preset effects
Kurzweil breaks down the price barriers, again! Sporting an excellent purple paint job, this baby has an updated Fatar keybed. Previous models typically encountered counter-weight issues caused by travel and hard playing. The revised keybed looks like it will stand up to the rigors of professional use. As always, the sounds are some of the best available. Targeted towards performers, the palette is somewhat limited, but you'll find acoustic & electric pianos, tone-wheel organs and strings to name a few. The effects are preset with little editing capability. Not to worry, they all sound great! For travel, a ATA rated road case is recommended. It has been my experience that the SKB cases don't hold up and allow for too much movement, ultimately causing damage to the keyboard. Give one a test drive at your local music store!
