Pros:gorgeous, many drying options, very quiet and efficient
Cons:color options, pedestal could be taller
The Bottom Line: A perfect match to a perfect washer. This dryer is amazing in every way.

To go along with my new LG Washer, this perfectly matched machine is the best I've ever had the pleasure to own. There are so many options and features, you could get lost in the manual.

Like the matching washing machine, this dryer model is only available in red, white or blue. I guess LG was going for that patriotic theme. It would have been nice if there was a black or silver version. I opted for red because my Irish wife preferred it. It's $100 more than the white. My opposition to the red was resale but after reading so many positive reviews about the red, I feel good with my, errr OUR choice. The red resembles the red found on Dodge vehicles. My laundry room has gone from drab stark white to exhilarating.

I know what you're thinking, "How difficult could a dryer be to understand?" Well, this bad boy is packed with features like digital fabric care and dual sensor technology

These are available in gas or electric options. Colors available are cherry red, white or dark blue. Very patriotic but I wish they offered this model in black or silver. This sumptuous red reminds me of the Dodge Hemi vehicles... without the pinstripes.

Operating the dryer starts at the cycle selector knob. After hitting the power button, you're treated to a short string of beep tones and lights reminiscent of the Vegas strip.

The sensor cycles are:

"Heavy Duty" dries jeans, heavy fabrics, work clothes, etc. The default time is 54 minutes.

"Cotton/Towels" heavy cottons, denim and towels. Default time is 55 minutes.

"Normal" sturdy fabrics like casual work clothes. Default time is 41 minutes.

"Perm Press" permanent press and synthetic items. Default time is 36 minutes.

"Delicates" washable knits and no-iron finishes. Default is 32 minutes.

"Ultra Delicate" dries sheer and lace items. Default time is 34 minutes.

These times may vary depending on how much moisture is in the clothes.

The manual cycles are:

"Speed Dry" for small loads or lightly soiled items.

"Freshen Up" removes wrinkles stored too long.

"Air Dry" for things that require drying without heat like rubber, plastic and heat-sensitive items.

In the manual dry, time dry or the rack dry cycles, the time can be added to or subtracted from at any time.

The dryer's sensors also report what the estimated time remaining for the cycle.

There's a child lock to keep kids out of harm's way.

There's also a PGM button that enables you to save a custom drying program.

Time drying is available in 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 minute intervals. Again, time can be added or removed at any time.

Damp Dry Beep: When the clothes reach 80% dry, a beep will sound. At this time, lighter-weight items (that are already dry) could be removed from the cycle. Like the washer, the beeps can be lessened or shut off.

The temperature can be controlled in five levels: High, Mid High, Medium, Low and Ultra Low.

The dry level is selectable in five levels as well. Damp Dry, Less Dry, Normal, More Dry and Very Dry.

What I like: I love the gorgeous design and the rich red color. Unlike the washer, the dryer's door can open left or right. I love the fact that I have total control over the level of drying.

What I'm on the fence about: Unlike the washer, this dryer does not come with an interior light while running, however a light does come on when you open the door.

What I don't like: I have no real complaint about the dryer other than the pedestal. They could have made it taller so that the removable clothes/shoe rack could stow in the drawer. I mean, other than dryer sheets, what would you store in the dryer's pedestal? And I either have to stow the rack in a cabinet (taking up too much room) or on top of the dryer making it a rattler.

One thing I've noticed, the drying times seem to be much faster than normal.

The warranty period is 1 year parts & labor. Home Depot offers a 4-year extended warranty for a mere $89 (each machine) which is MUCH less than everyone else.

There's one model above this one and for about $300 more, you get a small digital LCD screen. I didn't want to spend the extra money.

These units are stackable but keep in mind that the dryer weighs 126 pounds. The dryer measures 27" wide x 38-11/16" high x 29-3/4" deep.

Optional Accessory: LG offers a remote display called the RLM (Remote Laundry Monitor). This enables you to plug the RLM into any A/C plug and get the stats on the wash & dry cycles. Pretty cool for someone who might be deaf or someone who is just that lazy.
