Constant problems in 2 years!

Pros: It has a big picture. Easy menu and remote.
Cons: Constant electrical break downs. Poor customer service from seller. Mediocre picture.
The Bottom Line: I continue to have electrical problems every 6 months with this TV. Given past experience, problems will continue until I get rid of the TV.

I purchased this unit in Dec 04 from Best Buy. Who, by the way, I will never deal with again.
To this date, I have replaced 2 lamps, a ballast, a light engine and test and am waiting for the repair people as I write this to come and repair the color. The red is gone from the picture. One issue that continued to happen is that the unit would shut off. For no reason. Then there was the green and yellow stripes through the picture, then the lamp warning light came on and wouldn't turn off. This is with in 6 months of the first lamp being replaced. Now the red is gone from the television. THE DAY BEFORE THE SUPER BOWL!. All problems have been listed as electrical by the repair center.
For some reason I purchased a service agreement. Something I never consider on major purchases. It looks like it has paid for it's self. I shudder to think what is going to happen when the service agreement runs out in 2 years.
I'm not sure if it is just this unit or if LG has serious problems with their DLP units.
If asked, I would never purchase another LG product. It has been more problem than I want to deal with. I bought a 32 inch JVC in 1992, and its still as good today as the day we purchased it.
I have composed a letter to LG in hopes that they will refund all monies spent for this unit. It seems this is more than the normal so called break downs.
The picture is ok, but compared to other brands, it isn't as good. Over all, this unit is not worth the money. I would not recommend it. There are much better DLP's for less with a lot more to offer. Also, in the future I will only buy from Costco for major purchases. They would have taken this back with no question and refunded all of my money. It feels like I have lit a match to about $3000.00.
