First of all for those of you who just want to make lots of noise and impress people... this amp is not for you (because it sounds good)
Ahh the Lanzar opti drive 2500, all of the original Lanzar's were made with amazing quality and even more amazing power. The 2500 will handle 2ohms mono load and make 1200 watts RMS!!! rated at 250x2. If you run heavy enough wire to it and give it some air, a cap is a good idea too. FYI 1200RMS compares to a 2500watt planet Audio for power. I had a customer come in last week with a planet audio amp to have it installed, he listened to my system with the optidrive 2500 running two Id Max 12 before he left. When he came back to pick up his car with 4 12" rockford HX powered by the Planet amp he was dissapointed because although his system was a bit louder it just didn't sound like music! He has since asked me to find him an old school amp.
I have been an installer since 1990 and I can tell you there are very few amps that compare with the "old school" Lanzar. if you want big booming crap and you don't care about the music go grab a digital amp or any other high wattage amp. BUT if you want your music to sound like MUSIC and you don't want to destroy your subs with distortion then you'll want a musical amp.
To me there are only a few company who ever made real car audio and most of them have been bought out (pyramid bought out Lanzar now...not good!) or they have gone out of buisness PPI & Orion for example. They're gone because they made too good of a product instead of pumping out over priced crap, like Rockford, Sony, Pyramid have been.
