Re: more RAM for 600m (Reply to this comment)
by strange
Just another comment on memory for the 600m.
I got a 512MB SO-DIMM from www.18004memory.com,
and it's working perfectly. Low prices, quick
shipping, good service. I'd recommend them.
As for the 600m -- so far, I'm quite happy with
it. Two slight annoyances. The bottom gets
rather warm, which can be irritating if you've
got the thing in your lap. Second, I had gotten
used to the scroll feature on the trackpad that
I had with my old Sony VAIO, where you move your
finger along the right edge to scroll windows.
There doesn't appear to be anything quite as
easy to use with the Dell trackpad. These are
two things that the IBM T40 seems to be better
at (a friend just bought one of those). The Dell
was cheaper for what you get, though.

more RAM for 600m (Reply to this comment)
by kdanieli
I fully agree that ordering RAM preinstalled from Dell is ridiculously overpriced.
That said I ordered from Crucial.com and they sent me RAM that doesn't work. It took Crucial a couple of weeks to realize that they had been sending the wrong RAM for the 600m and that they needed a different chip configuration. I sent the RAM back to Crucial and didn't get their replacement. I got my money back.
Then I ordered RAM from Amazon/Circuit City which also did not work. Returned it with no problems.
I have ordered RAM from DELL now and it seems to work. The price for RAM alone from DELL was not bad at all and I had a 20% off coupon with free shipping. It was as cheap as Crucial and now DELL can't point fingers at Crucial RAM if there is a problem with the PC.
Crucial sent the wrong RAM but did finally refund my money. My trust in Crucial.com knowing it all has gone down, even thought they do have good tech and customer support in my experience.

I ordered mine with the same CPU/video combo (Reply to this comment)
by hatetoshave
I think the 1.3 centrino/ 64 MB Radeon 9000 is the best bang for the buck combo on the 600m. I know someone who ordered his with the 1.6 CPU and 32mb video and mine blows his away , especially when playing games or using heavy graphic applications. I heard the next version of Windows will take advantage of the advanced features of high end video cards and scale performance accordingly. That should be reason enough to get the best video you can afford, even if you don't play games or use heavy graphics.
