| teddybear8's Full Review: Dell Inspiron 600M (600MBS1) PC Notebook |
I have been own this laptop for about two years now.
And used it most of the day, playing games, watch videos, listen to musics, emails, etc. And this unit has kept working greatly for me. With good performance and great stablity.
I also have the a 102.11G wireless adapter preinstalled, works also great with a linksys wireless access point.
This unit is much lighter and elegant than the Inspiron 5100 of my friend, which makes me quite happy.
The 14" monitor is also very good, I have been taking a lot of pictures and view them on the laptop. They all looks good and are not too much worse than my desktop monitor.
The video card is not so powerful (64M memory). However, when I connect this unit to the TV set from s-video port, the picture was great! The audio is not so great though.
The really problem is the heat on the left corner. It can get sizzling. I installed a utility to monitor the CPU and Motherboard temperature, it was usually about 60C.
I was kind worried about the harddisk life although it never failed.
After some research, I went to buy a notebook cooler with two fans. This greatly reduce the temperature to about 40C.
Now everthing runs smooth.
At the time of the purchase, this unit was the only one around $1000 price range that actually provide both performance and style. And Dell is a name I trust.
I never regreted about the price or the unit. I am planning to use it for at least two more year as I believe it can provides the performance I needed.
