Pros: You'll want to read this one before you buy an Apple ibook
Cons: the plastic keys, battery lock mechanism
The Bottom Line: Buy a PC ... what's the Apple Edge if the support is now gone down the toilet.

Apple support just ain't what it used to be ... if this product has the plastics like the ibook G3 (keyboards and surrounding the battery locking mechanism) .. then watch out. Even the extended warranty won't help you if the plastics break.
I've owned my G3 for only a year. Normal wear and tear. The plastic keys popped off (this is common), and the battery locking mechanism broke as well. Wouldn't take much because it's plastic.
I finally decided to go ahead and send my ibook in and have all the problems taken care of when the CD RW drive broke ... imagine my surprise when Apple Repair calls back to say that the Extended warranty does not cover the plastics ... after paying $250 for a 3 year extended warranty that i thought would protect me against all unforseen hardware contingencies .. i find that the entire plastic keyboard must be replaced because two of the key tabs popped off, Cost $200, and to have the plastics surrounding the battery locking mechanism replaced, means replacing the entire battery locking mechanism. Cost $450.00. So good luck to those of you who thinks, like i thought; that an Apple Extended Warranty would amount to peace of mind. So why pay double for an Apple product if they're now being as cheaply manufactured as some of those horrible PC clones ... I say, go ahead and send in the clones.
