| Edwin_D's Full Review: Dell Inspiron 7500 (G650YT) PC Notebook |
I have had the Inspiron 7500 as my only PC since April 2000, and it
has proved exemplary, far beyond what I had expected. It has crashed three times only.
The screen (15.4") is a joy to behold, and the 128MB of RAM runs everything smoothly under Win98.
I am a heavy user of Excel, Winword and IE and have had no problems at all. The keyboard is nice and not at all soggy, and I have not even needed to get a mouse as I had planned as the touch pad works very well.
I have also stretched the machine by recording four track audio on it with CoolEdit2000, and there were no problems.
In fact, having everything already built in -- modem, soundcard, second hard disk and CD-writer means it all worked splendidly out of the box. I have wasted no time with IT hassles or device drivers, truly an achievement compared with all other machines I have owned.
The second (optional) 25G hard drive is a little noisier than I'd like, but without that onboard the machine is whisper quiet unless it's a warm day, when the fan kicks in and does it job.
Overall, WOW! I'm glad I paid extra for a Dell, and I'm also glad I paid extra for the top of the range model. Worth every penny ...
