Pros: Extremely powerful, versatile, lots of slots and ports, nice docking station.
Cons: Large, hot bottom, heavy.
The Bottom Line: This is a larger than average laptop, but extremely powerful and versatile. Great for geeks, not so good for people whom have to lug it around a lot.

Configuration: 512M memory, 45G disk (incl external HDD), 750mHz, 15.4", DVD CDROM,
I'm a geek, and well, I like geek stuff! My main reason for buying this laptop was for its features and the ability to swap in and out hardware, and the big amounts of space and memory.
Although this laptop is large, bulky, and heavy, it's powerful. If I was a road warrior, or a sales person, or someone always on the road, I would not suggest this laptop. It's actually a pain in the butt to lug around.
With a 1/2 gig of memory, I hardly have any problems with running out of memory. Also I do "dual boot" between Windows ME, Win2k, and Linux. This makes development and corporate environments much easier to work in. As a matter of fact, there isn't much I cannot run on my laptop.
The large 15.4" display is really nice. That along with a DVDRom drive makes for watching some nice movies. When everyone else on a plane is watching the little TV in the roof, and first class has their little 3" personal players, I'm watching a movie on a NICE display.
The feel of the keyboard on this laptop is nice. The buttons have a nice deep through, as compared to some laptop key boards. The pointing device is a GlidePoint touchpad, so people whom prefer a pointing stick might have difficulty. Some of the more recent Dells have pointing sticks and touchpads.
Being a larger laptop, with more power than most, this laptop does kick out a bit of heat. There is a small fan in the back which cycles on and off as the temperature inside the case warrants it. If you like to keep the laptop on your lap you might eventually get a warm leg. At times that does get a bit annoying.
As far as customer service, I still feel that Dell owns the market for CS on computers. I have had some problems with other Dell computers in the past (nothing major), but Dell was more than happy to fix them at no charge. I did crack the screen on my other Inspiron, and that cost me $1000 to fix, they are reasonable people! :)
The advanced port replicator, or as the rest of us know it as, the docking station is really nice. I have the advanced one, which means that it has ethernet on it. Also in the back are parallel ports, 2 usb, power, video, everything! :) On the side of it, it even has IR.
My price is really high in comparison to others because I got a ton of features, so consider that as part of my review.
