| artiste's Full Review: Dell Latitude C600 (220-6670) PC Notebook |
The Dell Latitude C600 has some excellent features. I especially like the battery life, easy hot swappable modules, etc.
This model has both a pointing stick and a touch pad. Users can switch back and forth. Both can be used at the same time. Also one can be switched off while the other one is left on.
C600 comes switch an internal antenna used for wireless networks. Users can also purchase for $199 an internal Mini PCI 802.llb adapter. This card has to be plugged into a slot which holds the Ethernet adapter. This means that one uses a PC card and the other can be plugged into the module. This is a drawback for this model because comparable models such as Acer and Toshiba provide capabilities for wireless networking and Ethernet connections.
I like the easy way the hot swappable modules work. I clicked an icon tray in Systems. One is ejected and the other pops right in. I also like the display which is high resolution. The display is 14 inches and the resolution is 1,400 by 1,050. No scrolling is needed to see more of the documents.
Speaker volume for the audio component is very low. Users wishing to make a presentation will have to use more high powered speakers. Keyboarding and the way it is spaced is quite comfortable. The AccessDirect button can be programmed to launch any other application which is used frequently.
This model is appealing to technical managers. For example, modules, batteries, docking and adapters can be shared with any Latitude C series models. These include other systems (Cpx, CPt, CCPi, etc.) Modules can be shared with L series models with an expansion bay (external) and an IDE cable. This model uses a primary and secondary battery. They can be used in the battery bay or the multipurpose bay.
This model boasts a very good battery life that beats out other competitors. The model weighs 5.4 ounces which is heavier than other comparable models. This may be due to the larger battery size. The battery time can last up to 8 hours with the extra battery installed in the modular bay.
Overall, C600 is an excellent notebook. In, addition this model comes with references on a disk and a three year warranty.
