Pros: Thin, stylish, light, powerful, mobile -overall an excellent laptop.
Cons: Takes three weeks to deliver (from Japan). A GREAT notebook.
The Bottom Line: Torn between the cheaper dell, or the lighter sony? go for a Fujitsu E -great value, great power, great mobility - the lightest and cheapest P4 out there.

| ericepk's Full Review: Fujitsu LIFEBOOK E7010 (LKN:BEL-E7010-0239) PC Not... |
A few months ago, I purchased the E7010, 14.1", 2.2Ghz, 512MB, 60GB Hard Drive, DVD/CDRW, WIn XP, and I love it.
I used to own a Fujitsu C-series laptop from about three years ago and actually hated it. Everything on that laptop went wrong - too many glitches to count, crashes, sofware problems, problems with the power cord, you name it.
So this time I was actually very careful when I decided to replace it with a new laptop with mobility as one of my top priorities.
I did careful research on Dell, Gateway, Sony VAIO, Fujitsu, Compaq, and HP notebooks. Compaq and HP, I threw out right away - their prices are low, but for a reason - their laptops are horrible. The Gateway's were either not powerful enough, or plain overpriced. I seriously considered the Sony's - everyone knows they're stylish and slim, but it seems as if every Vaio owner I know advised against me buying one. The dells were awesome - decent price, decent power, but they were too HEAVY.
However, the Fujitsu's matched and exceeded the Dell's in power, design, price, but most importantly WEIGHT. I knew other E-series users that were former Fujitsu users, who like me hated their laptops, but reluctantly came back to Fujitsu - and LOVED their new computers! So Fujitsu was my final choice.
Fujitsu has definitely done better this round - they've definitely fixed all the problems they had in their previous lifebooks, and their designs are awesome. Fujitsu seems to be the only company that has kept in mind the user's need to mobility as their E-series weighs less than 5 pounds! At this level of power, this is UNHEARD of in other brands. And the price is relatively low at 2400-2500. (my customized E was little pricier, 2600-2700, because I opted for more power).
The built-in wireless ethernet is nice - but it is a little weaker than the standard wireless ethernet cards. The infrared mouse, though it seems cool, is actually annoying because you have to keep turning it off after use, and it lacks the middle scroll wheel. The keyboard has a soft, quiet feel to it - if you like the machinegun "click-clack" of desktop keyboards, you'll hate the E-series one.
Power is great - both for gaming and work. Although I have some problems with MSOFFICE (everytime I minimize multiple IE windows, while Word is running, all the Word windows close - I don't know if this is a glitch with XP, or Word, but I'm sure it's not general to the E-series line)
The flexible bay is AWESOME. The space saver (just a piece of plastic that fits in the CDrom slot) puts the weight of the laptop at less than 5 pounds, but even with the CDrom in, it's not that heavy.
Because mobility was a priority for me, I chose to get a 14.1 XGA screen as opposed to the 15" SXGA. Personally I can't tell a difference. Besides, the 15" model is SLIGHTLY bigger in size, but significantly heavier.
The S-series, is light, but a little too weak. The C-series is fully loaded, but the size of a dump truck.
The Fujitsu tech support is EXCELLENT. Quick, polite, friendly - they go out of their way to take care of you and they know what they're talking about and how to help you out.
The one bad thing: If you're in a hurry to get your laptop, get it from Sony. Fujitsu laptops ship directly from Japan so expect a delivery time of approx 3 weeks.
