The consulting company I work for had been leasing their laptops. My lease ran out two months ago, and I was given the option of a Toshiba or the IBM T23. I chose the IBM.
I had been using an IBM 600e, which I loved. The ergonomics of the T23 are the same as the 300e. I love it too.
I'm not sure if what came with my laptop is standard since mine was purchased and shipped through my company's home office. I got a DVD, a floppy drive, a small phone line and the usual sparse paper documentation. I don't like the fact that I have to switch out my DVD to use my floppy. With my old laptop, I was given the external drive, so that I could have both the CD rom and the floppy connected at once. However, after reflecting on how often I had actually used the floppy, I realized it wasn't that big a deal. Most of my file transfers can be accomplished through a network connection.
The picture quality is excellent. You can see the screen from many angles. I like the fact that the screen isn't surrounded by a bulky supporting border of plastic. The screen stretches to nearly the full width of the laptop.
The thinkness is perfect. I don't want to have to carry around a wrist wrest as well as my laptop. I don't have to with this laptop.
Sound quality is low and it's hard to get any real volume out of it, but what do you expect from these little 1/2 inch speakers.
I am quite happy with this laptop. I use it fairly frequently. I carry it back and forth on my 2 hour commute into New York City on a daily basis. It may not be the lightest laptop, but the lighter laptops are more delicate and usually don't have the processing power or require external drives that add weight to the laptop anyway.
I would and have recommended this laptop to friends and coworkers.
