I purchased this laptop at Bestbuy, because of their rebate and free financing offer. I price shopped and could not find another laptop with comparable hardware at anywhere near the cost.
The Athlon processor is a powerhouse, comparable or better to the over priced Pentium 4 from intel. Ram is expandable to 1 gig, and the harddrive is nicely sized for a laptop. The DVD/CD-rw is a very nice feature, for watching movies on the road and burning cds. Battery life is good, at just over 2 hours with no Optical drive use.
The included software package is acceptable at best, but I found myself loading on my old favorites because the included packages didn't cut it. For example the included cd burning software is integrated into the windows shell, but does not support burning from .Iso files.
Documentation is lacking, especially in reguards to the included software.
I was also able to install Redhat 8.0 with no problems and full hardware support.
