This programme was given to me by a friend who upgraded. I like it, but for best results, I recommend it be complimented with another programme which can overcome some of its inadequacies.
First off I use WinOnCD mainly for the following:
1. Decompressing MP3 files; It works great for this function---much better than Feurio which I use also. It will decompress files which fail with other programmes.
2. Making Video CDs (VCD); This programme does a very nice job of burning a Video CD. I haven't had any problems with this function;
3. Reducing noise from vinyl disc and tape sources. This programme does this quite nicely. I've had a few discs that were in bad condition that still exhibited noise, but the improvement was tremendous.
Usually, I do not burn my CD from WinOnCD (except VCDs). I make my files from whatever source (MP3, Wav file, CD) using WinOnCD, then I burn with another programme (often Feurio and Nero). I've had a couple of bad experiences trying to burn with WinOnCD: Once the system hung for no apparent reason about 90% thru a burn. Another time, tracks were missing from the finished burn. I'm not sure what caused these errors. To be fair, WinOnCD may not have been the cause, but I've never had these errors while using another burning programme so I refuse to take further chances.
The help interface is inadequate (at least for my purposes) and needs to be upgraded.
WinOnCD seems to be an average programme with certain strengths and certain weaknesses. I wouldn't recommend it to a die-hard audio enthusiast, but it works fine for the casual user.
