| phoenix59's Full Review: Lexmark Jet X1185 All-In-One InkJet Printer |
It slices, it dices, it makes Julienne fries
oh, wait, thats the wrong product. But the Lexmark X1185 DOES do a lot of different tasks, and does them pretty well, especially considering its small (read: MINISCULE) price tag.
The unit prints in both color (up to 4800 x 1200 dpi, at 8 ppm) and black and white (up to 2400 x 1200, at 14 ppm), of course. It includes a flatbed scanner that scans at high resolutions. It combines those two functions to work as a copier (at 13 ppm). It works with both PCs and Macs and is very simple to set up.
The X1185 works with quite a lot of different types of paper, including banners, coated paper, envelopes, glossy paper, index cards, iron-on transfer paper, labels, photo paper, plain paper, postcards, and transparencies, up to 8.5 x 17.
Theres really not much more one could ask, except for built-in fax send and receive capabilities, but simply couple this unit with a faxmodem and it can easily fulfill that function as well.
I have found that replacing the print cartridges for a typical inkjet printer costs more than purchasing this unit. As one of the previous reviewers said, that makes this a no-brainer.
