gz1007's Full Review: Linksys EG005W 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch
Im a network manager and have just built my own raid5 linux server with 1.4TB of space. I purchased a linksys 10/100/1G pci card for the server and connected a new out of box linksys cisco EG005W 10/100/1000 switch to my sony vaio desktop system. Im shocked in the poor speed Im getting.
Using Windows to linux FTP or even samba Im getting bursts of 38M down to 16M/sec. Im using new cat6 cables and both systems show connected at 1G. I switch back to a cat 5E and a no name 10/100 switch and got 80M/sec sustained on my 700MB test file.
I used the cat 5E cables with the cisco 1G switch and got 16-30M/sec only.

Linksys support only could reply with, We dont do blocking or speed filtering. Lame answer. Im taking this pos back to frys and looking for a no namer.
