| guitarman469's Full Review: Lite On LVW-5001 DVD Recorder |
I purchased this about 1 week ago hoping to easily transfer my home video's to DVD. It did not go very well. The first problem was that s-video input had interference unless I also put in the Composite video signal and switched to it first. Secondly, after burning my first disc, it froze. I had to unplug it and reboot. I called tech support and they told me I should upgrade the firmware. It was a several step process and this took me about 2 hours to complete. I figured this would make it work properly. I made two discs without a problem, EXCEPT, when I tried to make a copy on my computer to distribute to my family, it would not copy correctly. I have tried several programs, all of which tell me there is an error. The general error is a DVD Navigation error. This creates havoc when trying to copy. I used IFO edit and this corrected one of the discs, but not the other. When I called LITE-ON and explained what was happening they told me that it was a problem with my computer! I have made dozens of DVD discs and copied them onto two different DVD drives with out any problems, except when I took the disc made from the Lite-on. So I continued, then on the third disc, the recording would just cancel, leaving nothing I did on the disc. I tried again, and did the same thing. After spending several days with this machine, I realize it was never quite ready to be sold. I have returned it.
