| mooresites's Full Review: Logitech MX 510 (931179-040) Mouse |
I've used this mouse for the past three years and it is BULLET PROOF. I only recently upgraded to the Performance Mouse MX (also great), but the MX 510 is just an excellent all around mouse.
Build This mouse is just about a solid three years after as when I bought it. If there was a drawback, the slider feet have become a bit worn from use, but I just stuck some felt stickies under and it works fine (on a mousepad, it still tracks well). Other than that, all is pretty much just as I started with. The clicks are solid and have a great feel.
Options One of the best aspect of newer mice is programmable buttons and this one is no exception. I am a web designer and being able to program the forward/back buttons to copy and paste is a life safer. I set the middle button above the scroll wheel to minimize all windows and it saves much time.
The optical tracking is spot on and I've had no trouble at all with it. There are higher DPI tracking mice, but this does well for most applications.
Look/Feel This is an attractive mouse (comes in Red too, I think). The marbled cover is attractive. It feels very good in the hand and I've had minimal strain over the years if any at all.
You can't go wrong with this mouse for an upgrade. Period.
