Pros: Records with VERY EXACTING accuracy
Cons: Techno-lingo in the user manual has to go.
The Bottom Line: "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." This is an expensive ounce, but darned well worth the peace of mind.

| Schlamozzel's Full Review: Lorex SG-7924 VCR |
Hi there,
Schlamozzel here with a review of a product that ties in with my When One Among Us Has Sinned" SLUMLORD BRAND (TM) post.
The situation, as you may recall, was intollerable. 1 female tenant was brutalized, verbally beaten, living in genuine fear of her "partner" and what I would call "robbed" of her hard earned dollars so that "Mr. 50 Pound Bag of Fertilizer" could pay my rent.
There had been several reports in the past of "noisy altercations" coming from their apartment. Schlamozzel had nearly come to an end of his rope back then. So Schlamozzel purchased a 4 camera video / audio system and this Lorex SG-7924 VCR.
The Basics
This VCR is a time lapse recorder. It will take a standard video tape and can record up to 360 hours. Its recording time can be programmed anywhere from 2 hrs. to 360 hrs. However, if you set the record speed to anything longer than 36 hours you CAN NOT record sound.
This machine plugs into standard 115 vac house current and has connection jacks for video in, audio in, video out, audio out. It can be programmed to time record so you can tape only certain hours or minutes of the day. There is a WONDERFUL FEATURE which allows the operator to lock out changes. This means if you set the machine to record and do not want anybody to "tamper" with it (such as stop it or to remove the tape) they can't do it. It just keeps on recording. The only thing anyone can do to stop it is to cut the power, or rip out the entire machine.
This machine has a remote control as well as on board buttons for function and programming. It uses 2 AAA sized batteries which are provided.
How Well This Works
I have been reviewing video tape in my spare time. It is funny what people do in front of a camera, not thinking the owner would ever REALLY view the tape. I have 4 cameras set up, the view is "quad mode" so that all 4 areas can be seen at the same time. The amount of detail is sufficient enough for me to have called a tenant last night and confront that person for having tampered with the video equipment. When this happened the tenant began speaking in broken words such as, "Wha- I did- well yo- I mean I... I..."
A valuable lesson learned. (If this kid is smart)
There is a plethora of technical-ese in the manual to try and figure out. I don't even bother with it. I have the machine working very well. The recorded picture reproduction quality is sufficient. (This also depends on the camera system quality that feeds into the VCR) So I feel very comfortable that the next time "Mr. 50 Pound Bag of Fertilizer" goes on a rampage I will have enough recorded evidence to send him packing for good.
By the way, I do have the required signage posted in more than 1 place. Including next to the front door of "Mr. 50 Pound Bag of Fertilizer". That way nobody can say they were not warned.
THis situation is far from over. I will add another chapter as soon as significant events warrant.
