excaliburn's Full Review: Magellan Meridian Color Handheld GPS Receiver
This unit was highly recommended to me by a friend when I was looking for a GPS unit to use when kayaking on the coast of NC. I decided on it when I saw that it was waterproof, had a memory expansion slot, and included most marine navpoints and features.
I found a brand-new one on E-Bay for $207. The unit worked fine right out of the box and it took only a few minutes to start using it. I later purchased the mapping CD-ROM and a 64 MB SD card for it.
Virtually everything said about the other Magellan Meridian models applies to this one as well. Satellite acquisition is quick and WAAS works well. Display resolution is not optimal, but it is perfectly usable. Some of the functions are not self-apparent and you will probably want to read the manual a couple times before you try setting up a route. The units eats up batteries, but it maintains its internal memory for a long time if the batteries go dead, so you don't lose any stored information.
