Ive tried all kinds of smoke boxes add-ons to grills Charcoal grills -everything. Having been used to grilling on a wood stoked grill, and moving away from it, I couldnt find anything to match until I found the Masterbuilt Smoker.

Now Im not interested in the turkey fryer, and all of that stuff just good old smoked meat and fish. Charcoal doesnt work as you cant control the heat and the smoke simultaneously. Electricity is too expensive and the heaters burn out at the temperatures needed to get smoke.
I bought mine at Lowes without pans, etc. for less than $100. (Not sold that way now, I think). I can put the smoker wood in as necessary, adjust the heat as necessary and it works. There is a water pan to keep the stuff from drying out, and if you monitor the water level, until its about cooked, you can finish with a higher heat (the water holds the temperature to 212 or thereabouts. That puts a final dryer finish on the product and its delicious.
Cheap construction yes. Mine's two years old and for less than $100 who can complain? I figure another two more years, and Ill break down and see if they still make the cheapy version. A problem to clean, but what is not when smoking? Works better than anything I could find. Guess Ill go check my smoked hamburgers and turkey-burgers, now that I've finished the fish.
