Maytag is a nightmare! (Reply to this comment)
by rmm7
Letter submitted to Maytag...
We are supportive of those who have preceded us and have not given up on disputing your company in regard to the unsatisfactory and sub-standard product you produced with the Neptune TL. This is not what we would expect from a Maytag product.
Both of us were very lucky to have been on Oprah's Favorite Things in November of 2004. Yes, one of our wonderful gifts was your washer and dryer. Boy, had Oprah had known what a horrible product it was, we doubt that she would have promoted it.
Ever since we received our washers in June of 2005, they have been nothing but a headache, disappointment, source of financial burden, and a source of irritation. For starters, our clothes continue to come out EXTREMELY twisted into knots. They have ruined several items. One of us had to have a repairman come out because the lid continued to leak after every wash. The other one had repairman after repairman come out without any solutions. In addition, our basements have the smell of sewage which we have traced to our Maytag washers, which does not make for a pleasant or healthy environment. It is appalling that such a product would be knowingly sold to the public and/or allowed to be given to recipients on the Oprah Show. We all know that she receives nationwide recognition.
For as long as we can remember, Maytag has always produced and had a reputation for high quality products. This experience eradicates the dependability of a Maytag product.
We tried several times to get new ones, but have not had any luck. Needless to say, we finally gave up and chose to tell people that Maytag is not a company to do business with. We never were given any notice in regard to the class action law suit. When we heard about it, the deadline had passed. We had never received any information regarding the class action suit and that was Maytags responsibility to contact all Neptune owners, not only 66% of them! We took the time to register our products, why didnt Maytag take the time, initiative, and/or responsibility to contact us? Now thanks to NBC5, we hope there will be resolution to our issues with the Maytag Neptune Washer. We know that we will be informed by NBC5 and we will continue our contact with them. We most definitely expect to hear from you. We feel that we are entitled to new machines since we have had nothing but problems from the start. Considering your company knowingly knew that the product was inferior and below environmentally standards, we believe that our Neptune washers need to be replaced with NEW machines. We do expect to hear from you soon regarding resolution to a situation that should have never taken place with a product bearing the Maytag name.

Wow! I could not agree more about the comments about this machine! I HATE MY MAYTAG NEPTUNE TL!!!! I too would have it out on the street corner if I had not paid so much for it. I hate it every day -- more and more and more. Now it has decided to start making sounds like a 747 taking off in my laundry room. I cannot warn people enough to NOT buy this machine. It is the worst mistake a mom with two active little boys could have ever made. I am living for the day that I can kick this machine and replace it with a good old Kenmore!!
