First of all, the MC1275 isn't a vacuum; it's a STEAMER.
It doesn't suck anything up.
Second, you'll need to add some good, old-fashioned ELBOW GREASE when you clean. The steam will loosen dirt, grease, etc. but you'll need to have some dry towels handy to wipe up the loosened debris.
Third, you'll need to plan on 10-15 minutes after turning on the switch to heat the water to steam.
You can expect about an hour of steam output, and with the provided attachments, you'll be able to accomplish a lot before you need to refill. (Note: if you do refill, make sure you turn off the machine, unplug it, and let it sit and cool per the manufacturers instructions. Adding water while the machine is hot can result in burns!)
After reviewing information on both the MC1275 and a SteamMax machine, I found that they're almost the same machine, made in the same factory. The difference is that the MC1275 is a little smaller but little heavier, making for a more durable machine.
The MC1275 answers the call for heavy-duty jobs.
I purchased it to clean the grout for my ceramic floor tiles. I've had the machine several weeks now and fire it
up on the weekends to work on the grout. We have about 1000 square feet of ceramic tile, and it takes about an hour to clean 25-30 square feet. I know that sounds like snail's progress, but I'm working through the heavy traffic areas (kitchen, dining, and hallway) first, and there's a buildup of 8 years' worth of my kids' dirt to blast.
The MC1275 also does a great job on my vinyl floors. I plan to use it in the future to clean my oven, my car's interior, and my mower deck.
The instructions recommend using filtered water. I am doing so and have noticed no mineral residue. Also, be sure to use a funnel and avoid spilling water, as it can get into the case and damage the machine.
Count on the MC1275 for a variety of jobs as long as you are willing to provide some of the muscle-power. It won't do the work for you, but it will make your tough cleaning jobs easier. It is built to last and comes with a nice variety of attachments. I purchased my MC1275 from Premier Appliance. Their communication and shipping was top-notch, and their price was competitive. They sell on Ebay (where I purchased my machine) and also have their own site, www.premierappliance.com.
CAUTION: Avoid steam contact with skin. Do not allow young children to use this machine due to steam burn hazard.
