Pros: A great second generation camera/binocular combo that meets my expectations.
Cons: Could use stabilization for camera alone or both bino/camera. Also, better battery holder.
The Bottom Line: If you ever wanted to be able to take pictures with your binoculars, then buy this product! This should be a second digital camera because focus starts at 66ft away.

| mwhtdy's Full Review: Meade CaptureView Generation II (8x42) Binocular |
The optics of the binoculars are superb (what else would you expect from Meade?). The overall feel of the binoculars is heavy, but not too heavy. In other words, it is built like you would want your car built--like a tank. This is a very easy devise to hold and look through. But what about taking pictures? I took a few pictures off axis due to the way I had the optics aligned for my eyes. There are two swivel points for each eye-tube, so be careful to move each correctly. However, even if you do not move each eye-tube in perfect alignment, a basic photo-editing program will assist in correcting this problem. The camera is easy to operate and basically works as advertised. It is very fun to look at pictures directly after shooting them. Also, it is great to use the viewer for taking pictures. As stated in earlier postings, camera shake is an issue. Camera shake is always an issue any time telephoto is used, so this is to be expected. Interested buyers should pickup a video camera and zoom in to the highest magnification and see how steady they can hold it. If a person has a steady hand, then you will not be disappointed. The picture quality is stunning, but only after running it through a photo-editing program that adjusts the Hoffman levels. I use ACDSee for Pentax and have marvelous pics.
Overall, this is a solid performer for the price!
